Mr David Schroeder is an experienced laparoscopic abdominal surgeon who has been performing obesity surgery in the Waikato area for 18 years. He pioneered laparoscopic obesity surgery in New Zealand, introducing the Lap-Band in 1996, and performing the first laparoscopic gastric bypass in New Zealand in 2000. He has performed over 900 primary and revisional obesity operations. He is a member of several international obesity surgery societies, and is constantly updating surgical techniques and auditing results. As a result, he has developed a keen interest in the role of the brain in getting the best results after surgery on the stomach. This is reflected in the team he has chosen to help patients achieve their goals.

Ms Andrea Armstrong is our obesity consultant and also a registered nurse. She has spent the last 6 years in educating patients regarding surgical treatment for obesity.
