David Schroeder - Bariatric Surgeon
David Schroeder is an experienced
laparoscopic abdominal surgeon who has been performing obesity
surgery in the Waikato area for 18 years. He pioneered laparoscopic
obesity surgery in New Zealand, introducing the LAP-BAND® in 1996,
and performing the first laparoscopic gastric bypass in New Zealand
in 2000.
He has performed over 1800 primary and revisional obesity operations.
He is a member of several international obesity surgery societies, and is constantly updating surgical techniques and auditing outcomes. As a result, he has developed a keen interest in the role of the brain in getting the best results after surgery on the stomach. This is reflected in the team he has chosen to help patients achieve their goals.
David is currently on the executive committee of the Obesity Surgery Society of Australia and New Zealand.
